WHAT’S AT STAKE?

Support the September 24 School Funding Referendum

Vote Yes for Tuscaloosa’s School Children

We need your vote on September 24 to pass the Tuscaloosa City school referendum, guaranteeing new resources for our children. This new funding will not only expand Pre-K to every child, increase school safety, and recruit and keep the best teachers in our classrooms, but it will also keep classes smaller and offer full-day summer learning for every child. This is an opportunity for us to build a brighter future for our children and our community.

A no vote means painful cuts to athletics, Pre-K, dual enrollment programs, and art and music programs, among other things. Class size will grow, and Tuscaloosa will lose its best teachers to other systems that can pay more.

And remember this: Tuscaloosa City Schools have not had an ad valorem increase since 1986, after almost 40 years of battling soaring costs and decades of inflation. It is time to invest more in our schoolchildren.

Tuscaloosa City Schools: Investing in Our Future

Investing in the future of our children and the future of our city is not just a choice; it’s a responsibility we all share as citizens of Tuscaloosa. Our schools are at a critical juncture, and your support is not just needed; it’s essential to ensure that Tuscaloosa continues to provide a high-quality education for every child.

The success of our schools is not just about our children; it’s about our entire community. It’s about attracting businesses, young professionals, and families to our city. By supporting the referendum, you are not just investing in the future of Tuscaloosa; you are investing in a brighter, more prosperous community. Your vote matters for more than just our schools.

We want more for our children, not less. Tuscaloosa must build upon our remarkable education progress, not step back. The school referendum is not just an opportunity; it’s a necessity. It allows Tuscaloosa City Schools to continue existing programs that make a difference while expanding our offerings to improve quality education. Now is not just a good time to build on that progress; it’s the only time.

Vote YES on September 24, 2024, to support Tuscaloosa City School children. Mark your calendars and participate in this important decision for our community.
